31. January 2023 Off By Raul Gschrey

Call for participation: International BIP

Common Regeneration: How can urban commons transform an industrial and mining region? Case study: Ostrava

The Erasmus BIP program is an interdisciplinary challenge for students from the participating universities of the U!REKA network and beyond. It is designed for sociologists, architects, regional planners, economists, civil engineers, social workers, creatives and other related fields of study.

Organizational information: The BIP program consists of three parts:

15.3.2023 10:00-16:00 CET: 1. virtual block: lectures & discussions

13.4.2023 10:00-16:00 CET: 2. virtual block: presentations & tasks

23.4.-28.4.2023: Practical part in Ostrava

Meet people from different European regions and find out about their positions and ideas. Become part of an international student team and propose solutions that can modify the social situation in local contexts. Find architectural solutions for the transformation of post-mining territories with emphasis on mitigating the effects of climate change. Think about technical issues that can be applicable to post-industrial areas in any city in the world. The focus on urban commons will open new perspectives on the transformation processes and the search for socio-cultural and ecological values.

What is a BIP?

The Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Program (BIP) is an innovative teaching model that relies on the combination of virtual with face-to-face activities. For the successful participation students will receive a minimum of 3 ECTS credits. From their universities students will receive a flat rate of 70 EUR per day. This can be used individually to pay for travels, accommodation & meals (dormitory accommodation is available).

Explore Ostrava and the region in the Czech Republic! As part of the BIP program you will have the opportunity to meet people from the “Quirky region” and visit interesting and unique places.
